Codergarten is committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of their background or learning style, can thrive in our STEAM programs. We believe that diversity of thought is the engine of innovation.

1. Our Commitment

We provide a learning environment that is respectful, welcoming, and accessible. We actively work to remove barriers to participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

2. Supporting Neurodiversity

We recognize that students process information differently. Our approach is designed to support neurodiverse learners (including those with ADHD, Autism, and Dyslexia) through:

  • Clear Pathways: Every session follows a predictable rhythm and structure, helping students feel secure and focused.
  • Multi-Modal Learning: We combine verbal instructions, visual aids, and hands-on activities to cater to different sensory preferences.
  • Flexible Project Goals: Students are encouraged to reach learning outcomes through paths that best suit their strengths.

3. Physical Disabilities & Venue Accessibility

We are committed to the inclusion of students with physical disabilities. As Codergarten operates across a variety of community venues, we ensure that:

  • Venue Assessment: We conduct accessibility audits for all locations to identify and address potential barriers.
  • Proactive Communication: We encourage parents and guardians to contact us prior to enrollment to discuss specific access requirements. This allows us to confirm the venue's suitability and, where possible, make necessary arrangements or adjustments to the learning environment.
  • Adaptive Setup: We utilize flexible furniture and equipment layouts to accommodate mobility aids and ensure a comfortable learning space for all students.

4. Pedagogical Support Tools

To ensure no student is left behind, we utilize specific tools and techniques:

  • Summary Cards: Visual and text-based cards that break down complex STEAM concepts into digestible "bites."
  • Session Notes: Provided after sessions to reinforce learning and reduce the pressure of note-taking during class.
  • Digital Catch-up: Access to digital resources and recorded summaries for students who need more time or miss a session.
  • Hands-on Learning: A "learning by doing" philosophy that prioritizes physical interaction with technology and engineering projects.

5. Inclusive Environment

  • Respectful Language: We model and expect the use of inclusive language that celebrates differences.
  • Sensory Awareness: Educators are mindful of the physical environment (lighting, noise levels) and offer quiet zones or "brain breaks" when needed.
  • Zero Tolerance for Bullying: We maintain a strict policy against any form of discrimination or exclusion.

6. Parent & Guardian Collaboration

We believe parents are the experts on their children. We encourage open dialogue during enrollment to discuss:

  • Specific learning adjustments or triggers.
  • Communication preferences.
  • Successful strategies used at home or school that can be mirrored at Codergarten.
